The key to laser tattoo removal is the absorption of wavelengths. Lasers emit different wavelengths to target specific groups of ink colors. An ink particle will either absorb or reflect a laser’s light energy depending on the wavelength produced and targeted ink colors. Laser tattoo removal is only successful when an ink particle absorbs the wavelength of light energy. The absorption of light energy causes an ink particle to shatter into tiny fragments to be flushed out by the immune system. If the wrong wavelength is used, the ink particle will reflect the light energy and remain permanently etched in the skin.
Rethink’s Trinity laser supports three versatile wavelengths – 1064 nm, 532 nm, and 694 nm – to deliver full-spectrum removal on all multicolored tattoos. This industry-leading technology combines two standalone lasers – a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser and a Q-switched ruby laser. Here is a breakdown of the color groups that our Trinity wavelengths target:

Our Trinity’s 694 nm ruby wavelength can effectively treat stubborn blue and green inks. Most traditional lasers only support 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths and cannot treat patients with bright multicolored tattoos because those wavelengths are reflected by vibrant green and blue pigments.
