What Is Acne Scar Laser Treatment?
Acne scar laser treatment is an in-office procedure that uses targeted laser energy to smooth uneven texture left by acne, so skin reflects light more evenly. Rethink uses the FDA-cleared PicoWay Resolve™ 1064nm handpiece from Candela, calibrated to your scar pattern and skin type.
What Causes Acne Scars?
Acne scars form when inflamed breakouts damage collagen as they heal. Depressed (atrophic) scars form when skin rebuilds too little collagen, leaving a pit. Raised (hypertrophic) scars form when it produces too much. The depth of the breakout, your skin, and how it healed determine which type you get.
How Laser Treatment Targets Acne Scars
The PicoWay Resolve™ 1064nm handpiece splits each picosecond pulse into thousands of microscopic treatment zones, a process called laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB). Each zone triggers new collagen and elastin to remodel texture from within, while the surrounding skin stays undisturbed. That means quick, comfortable sessions instead of one aggressive pass. The 1064nm wavelength is FDA-cleared for acne scars in Fitzpatrick skin types II–V.
